Farnworth Tunnel
The south end of Farnworth Tunnel on 17 July 2015, with the outline of the new double-track portal now formed in advance of the tunnel boring machine starting its work. The footpath leading to this spot will close from 21 July until the work has been completed. Meantime the smaller down tunnel off to the left continues to be used for bi-directional working.
