Oberhausen Osterfeld Süd

Old and (relatively) new rub shoulders at Oberhausen Osterfeld Süd shed in the Ruhr area of West Germany on Saturday 30th August 1975. The two more prominent class 50 2-10-0s, Nos. 050.489 and 050.056, were in their last year of operation but electric No. 140.247 on the left, originally classed as type E40, would survive well into the 21st century. Class E40 was once the standard medium powered electric freight loco on DB, extending to 879 units built between 1957 and 1973, but is now extinct.
