Thornton Junction
Freights about to cross at Thornton Junction in 1971. BRCW Type 2 no 5322 runs under the footbridge of the closed station northbound, while an EE Type 1 has just joined the up main line at Thornton North Junction with a freight off the Fife Coast route. Mineworkings in the background are the remains of Balgonie Colliery (Julian Pit) which closed in 1960.
