London Road Junction [Carlisle]

A Brush Type 4 with a down WCML express is about to run into Carlisle station in September 1971, having just passed over a freight heading for London Road Junction on the Carlisle goods lines. Meantime, an EE Type 4 with a parcels train from Newcastle is held at signals on the climb up to the station awaiting passage of the express. The substantial bridge supports that once carried the lines into Crown Street goods depot (closed in 1966) stand in the centre of the picture. See image 24608
