Stanway
On Saturday 3rd October 1981, the RCTS ran a farewell tour for the Class 306 EMU which was being withdrawn after 32 years of intensive local service in and out of Liverpool Street. A run was made up to Colchester during the tour and this photo shows the special returning south at Stanway. The sidings here were used to store withdrawn 306 units before scrapping. One of the units has survived in preservation as part of the national collection see image 37922.
