Dunfermline Upper
The cabin under the old footbridge at Phoenix Lane, Dunfermline, in 2014 see image 47932 from which the level crossing gates and associated signals were operated. The external wooden telephone box is still intact and the metal plate on the cabin wall marks the position of the chimney from the stove inside. Brackets are visible in the footbridge latticework which supported the chimney extension above the bridge. [Information kindly provided by Mr Nairn, the last crossing keeper]
