Lower Darwen
Passing through the site of Lower Darwen station (closed 1958) is a Clitheroe - Manchester service. All trace of the old station has been removed at rail level. Following a long campaign for re-doubling of the line a long loop was installed in the area of Darwen station in 2015. Elsewhere on the line bridges, such as the one in the foreground, and other infrastructure changes have precluded a second track being laid. [Ref query 7170]
