Pontefract Baghill

Bulleid 'Merchant Navy' Pacific no 35028 Clan Line just south of Pontefract Baghill station on 15 September 1979. The locomotive is on its way from York to Sheffield to pick up the Merchant Navy LPG Strongbow Express. The tall three arched Swanhill Lane Bridge in the photograph was later demolished due to mining subsidence and replaced with the present structure. [With thanks to Vic Smith]
