Crookston Mill Bridge

Contractors dismantle the remaining Up track of the Waverley Route in January 1972, at Crookston just north of Fountainhall. In this view looking south, the Fountainhall Up Distant signal can just be seen. The photographer recollects one of the contractors recounting how, when lifting track at Melrose some months earlier, he had been loudly berated by a local woman for taking away her railway.
