Edinburgh Waverley

The timetable changes in the spring of 1971 included the commencement of through working to the Western Region, specifically the 09.40 Edinburgh - Paignton, which made the 1V reporting number an everyday sight in the Scottish capital. Driver Robinson of Gateshead stands next to the first southbound train, hauled by Brush Type 4 No. 1538 of Immimgham, shortly before departure from Waverley on 3rd May 1971.
