York

The curved trainshed at York forms a magnificent backdrop to 9F No. 92220 Evening Star blowing-off impatiently as it waits to take over the Scarborough Flyer excursion in July 1976. The train started its journey from Newcastle round the Durham coast behind Stephenson valve gear Black 5 No. 4767, with class 40 diesel power taking over at Stockton for the second leg along the ECML.
