Loch Treig Tunnel

A 37 hauled southbound sleeper approaches the Loch Treig Tunnel on the deviation in 1995. At a lower level the original course of the line can be seen - the earlier route did not have a tunnel. The level of the Loch, used as a reservoir for the Lochaber Smelter, was unusually low at the time of the photograph revealing the old trackbed which is normally under water.
