Carmarthen Old

The old station at Carmarthen closed in 1902 but lived on as a goods depot for many years and still stands in March 2012 alongside a car park built on the old trackbed. It lies just north of the replacement Carmarthen station See image 38182 on the old line to Cardigan and Aberystwyth but separated by the River Towy. Goods trains continued to pass through here until as late as 1973 when the Newcastle Emlyn branch finally closed. [With thanks to Kenneth Leiper]
