Hest Bank

In January 2012 Hest Bank still retains a signalbox, although downgraded to a gate box or, as the name states, a level crossing frame. The fact that the box is to be closed under current Network Rail plans is perhaps reflected by the lack of maintenance on the structure (the west side, facing Morecambe Bay, is very much the worse for wear). With the South Lakeland Hills in the background, an up Pendolino rushes towards its next stop at Lancaster on 28 January 2012.
