Brechin

An October 1974 view of the old signal box and extensive goods yard at Brechin. At the time - 6½ years before closure - the Kinnaber Junction to Brechin branch was handling a variety of agricultural and coal traffic, plus - as seen in this photograph - pipes for the North Sea oil sector. The pipe traffic was later switched to Laurencekirk see image 12553, then Dyce, while the Brechin to Bridge of Dun line gained a new lease of life as the preserved Caledonian Railway.
