Manchester Liverpool Road

D2868, a Class 02 Yorkshire Engine Co. 0-4-0DH, arrived at Manchester Museum of Science and Industry in early 2011, along with Barclay 06003. The 02 was an appropriate exhibit as this class replaced the L&YR Pugs in the Manchester and Salford goods yards. It is seen here, outside one of the old warehouses, from a passing internal steam train service. D2868 itself was a Lostock Hall loco, See image 25579 being withdrawn from there in December 1969 and passing into industry and then preservation. It was moved away from MOSI to Peak Rail, Derbyshire in early 2013.
