Grenoble

An 'Alstom Citadis' tram near Grenoble city centre on 27 September 2011. Grenoble had previously disposed of its trams in 1952. When consulted in 1983 on proposals for a modern tramway, the local electorate was only narrowly in favour. The current system dates from 1987, is now 21.7 miles in length and still expanding due to popular demand.
