Holmes Summit
The new summit-board near Forrestfield on the Airdrie-Bathgate route named after the late Derek Holmes. Born in Dundee in 1959, Derek began his railway career as a signalman in the Dundee area. At the point of his untimely death in January 2010 he held the position of Production Director with Network Rail, as well as being chairman of the Institution of Railway Operators.
