Bank Mill

Beyond the former terminus at Penicuik a line continued south to reach Bank Mill on the other side of the A701 (see image 29992). One of the mills that made up the Valleyfield complex of Alexander Cowan & Sons, Bank Mill had started life as a corn mill before being bought over and converted to a secure facility making bank notes. View west through the short single line rail tunnel under the A701 on 9 May 2011 with Bank Mill standing beyond. [Behind the camera the site of Penicuik station and Valleyfield mill is now housing.]
