Ayr

As far as I can remember, my first ever railway photograph - Standard Class 4 2-6-4T No. 80009 awaits departure from Ayr with a Glasgow (St. Enoch) train in August 1959. The smokebox of classmate No. 80008 can just be seen in the background beyond the wall alongside one of the new dmus which would take over from the tanks with effect from the timetable change later that year. Note the CR type route indicator above the centre of the buffer beam, something I never noticed on the original print. [Perhaps someone with a summer 1959 timetable can identify the train.]
