Dumfries

Running through the middle road at Dumfries on 13 June 1959 is ex-Great North of Scotland Railway 4-4-0 No 49 Gordon Highlander. The locomotive has just arrived back in the station following a visit to Dumfries shed for refreshment, having earlier brought in the SLS Golden Jubilee Special from Buchanan Street. No 49 will shortly rejoin the train for the return journey to Glasgow, where the railtour will terminate at St Enoch station. The top of Dumfries shed can be seen in the left background on the south side of St Mary's Street road bridge. See image 30151
