Melton Mowbray

Having deposited passengers off the Melton Mowbray Pieman on 24 July 1977, 56008 is about to take the empty stock to Nottingham. Tour participants, having been handed a pork pie, were then bussed to Stapleford Park for a day's amusement and rejoined the train in the early evening at Leicester for the return to Barnsley. (Railscot note: The 'ripple-effect' or 'badger's bum' finish on the locomotive panels identifies this as one of the 30 examples of the class built for BR by Electroputere in Romania see image 20227)
