Carlisle

CR 123 stands at Carlisle platform 8 on 30 August 1958 carrying the headboard 'The Festival Special'. The train is thought to be that referred to in the October 1958 issue of Trains Illustrated uncovered by Vic Smith which reports... 'On August 30 Caledonian single No. 123 worked a trip commemorating the 1895 Race to the North. The special ran from Edinburgh (Princes Street) to Carlisle in 2 hours 14 minutes, inclusive of two stops for water'.
