Lanark

The Carstairs and Lanark area in 1957 as portrayed in the OS One Inch Map. Lanark then had more connections. There was a south - east curve at Lanark Junction allowing an hourly stopping service from Edinburgh Princes Street though the more westerly stops were the lonely stations on the Cobbinshaw section and I can't imagine trains were ever busy. South from Lanark was the Muirkirk branch: the unidentified stop is Lanark Racecourse Halt. Note that the junctions at Carstairs had already been rationalised to the form we have today.
