Willowholme Junction

61242 Alexander Reith Gray + 61290 head north out of Carlisle on 9 July 1961 with the RCTS Borders Rail Tour. The B1s took over from 46247 City of Liverpool which had brought the special into Petteril Bridge sidings on the first leg from Leeds. The train has just branched west off the Caledonian main line at Port Carlisle Branch Junction and is running parallel with the goods lines towards Willowholme Junction, with Willowholme power station (demolished 1988) in the background. The special will soon turn north at Canal Junction before crossing the Eden and heading for Hawick.
