Edinburgh Waverley

Railtour rescue. 60027 Merlin stands at Waverley on 5 June 1965 after bringing in a Scottish Locomotive Preservation Fund railtour from Carlisle. The circular tour ran from Edinburgh via Newcastle, Carlisle and Hawick, with A3 Pacific no 60052 Prince Palatine scheduled to haul the train throughout. Unfortunately the A3 had run a hot axlebox during the leg from Newcastle resulting in 60027 taking over the train at Carlisle.
