Bridgeton Central

A totem from Bridgeton Central in fine condition. This Glasgow East End terminus spent only 11 years as Bridgeton Central, becoming plain Bridgeton following the closure in 1964 of Bridgeton Cross on the former Glasgow Central Railway. To confuse matters Bridgeton Central had once been called Bridgeton Cross too. The terminal 'Brigton' closed in 1979 on the opening of the Argyle Line - really the former GCR here - when the former Bridgeton Cross reopened taking over the name Bridgeton. I hope you are following this. The old terminus survived as a depot for a few years until the line was closed and the area redeveloped, but the station frontage remains see image 14292.
