Carlisle
A dismal-looking day at the south end of Carlisle on 28 December 1963 sees activity at platforms 3 & 4, with a pair of Stanier Pacifics having recently taken over WCML trains for the south. On the left no 46237 City of Bristol prepares to take out the up Royal Scot while on the right no 46240 City of Coventry has just backed onto an Edinburgh Waverley - Birmingham New Street service.
