Haymarket East Junction

A 29th February 1964 view of the lines which would, later that year, form part of the 'Duff Street spur'. The new link would join the E&G (in the middle distance) south west of Haymarket station see image 17541 at what would become Duff Street Junction (later renamed Haymarket East Jct), enabling trains from Carstairs to leave the Caledonian route at Slateford Junction and run to Haymarket and beyond. Provision of this new direct route to Waverley permitted the subsequent closure of Princes Street station.
