Fontburn Viaduct

View east from the top of the dam at Fontburn reservoir, Northumberland, on 31 October 2010. Below are the water treatment works of Northumbrian Water, while in the background stands the 12-arch Fontburn Viaduct that once carried the Rothbury branch of the Northumberland Central Railway. The line saw its passenger service withdrawn in 1952 and closed completely 11 years later.
