Ladyburn Junction

In May 1989, 26041 and 7 molasses tanks slowly rounded the curve close to Ladyburn Junction after leaving the James Watt Dock United Molasses depot. This short branch was awkward for a number of reasons; there was a steep gradient, a tight 180 degree curve, reversal to reach the loading area (okay, not inconvenient for arriving trains) and gravity shunting was required to allow the locomotive to round loaded trains as there was no loop. Also the track was beginning to go a bit 'square' on the curve as can be seen here. The locomotive had just crossed the (now) recently (25/09/2010) removed bridge over the A8.
