Stoke Gifford

A 'Western' diesel hydraulic lays a smokescreen over Stoke Gifford Yard in the northern suburbs of Bristol as it passes with a South Wales - Paddington express in the summer of 1971. Stoke Gifford is now home to the successful Bristol Parkway station. The locomotive cannot be identified from the photograph but has been suggested as being no 1027 Western Lancer.
