Class 37 No. D6903 standing at the north end of Millerhill Yard on Wednesday 18th February 1970 prior to working the 15.07 Millerhill to Leith South trip. The 1E3- reporting number suggests not that the loco has previously worked an up ECML express but that the right hand blind in the headcode box is inoperative, preventing the correct Edinburgh Area pilot number, E13, being displayed. Photographed from the veranda of a brake-van attached at the front of the train for an EURS party. The consist behind D6903 was about 20 loaded coal wagons plus two brake vans. The coal wagons were for Portobello power station and were deposited in the SSEB exchange sidings at Kings Road. This left just the two brake vans to take forward from Kings Road to Leith South yard (with thanks to Andrew Boyd).
