Carr Lane Halt

Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 46429, of Preston shed, hauled the last goods train from Knott End over Carr Lane level crossing on 13.11.1950 and a line that had only been open since 1908 was cut back to Pilling. Sixty years later the hump in the lane, and the two concrete gate posts on the right, still betray the site of the crossing. This was also the location of a small railmotor halt from 1921 to 1930 serving the western end of Pilling village. Map Reference SD 402478.
