Heaton MPD
One of the pair of ES1 electric locomotives built to operate the Newcastle Quayside branch, no 26501, stands in the sidings alongside Heaton shed around 1960. Both locomotives were withdrawn in 1964 and, while this example was eventually scrapped, no 26500 happily survived and is currently housed in the NRM at Shildon. See image 17307
