Alne

The 1135 Manchester Airport - Middlesbrough heads past the site of Alne station, 10 miles north of York on the ECML, in March 2010. Opened by the GNoER in 1841 the station also became the western end of the independent Easingwold Railway 50 years later. This resulted in the addition of a bay platform on the east side of the line and a crossover to the goods yard on the west side. Alne station closed to passengers in 1958 and has since been demolished, although the former goods yard and shed, now in private ownership, are still in use.
