Largs
Given the number of station platforms being extended nowadays to cope with longer trains, it is interesting to look back at a time when a different policy applied. The photograph shows Largs in 1986, where the considerable work involved in shortening the platforms (which used to extend to the signal gantries) has almost been completed.
