Skipton

'Sew with Dewhurst's 'Sylko' machine twist' urges the message along the front of Dewhurst's Bell Vue Mill on 28 July 1968, as the MRTS/SVR Farewell to BR Steam special poses for photographs at Skipton. The train, which originated from Birmingham New Street, had been hauled here from Carnforth by 75019 + 75027 and would shortly be taken forward by 45073 + 45156 on the next stage of the tour as far as Rose Grove. The Mill, which at one time employed 2000 people, finally ceased production in the 1980s and was later converted to residential apartments.
