Stranraer Town

View east from Stranraer Town station in May 2007, some 41 years after closure. To the left stood a large goods yard and locomotive shed, the surviving building of which stands in the centre background behind the blue container. Beyond the shed a large scrapyard occupies the 'V' between this route and the Harbour branch, which turns north west just around the curve at Stranraer Harbour Junction. Behind the camera the line once continued to Portpatrick, the last remnants of this section having been closed in 1959 see image 15539.
