Chinley North Junction

On a journey that would now be made by road lowloader, a Class 25 hauls an 08 shunter (minus coupling rods) through Chinley North Junction. The train is coming off the Peak Forest line, and is signalled to join the slow line of the four track section. Presumably the 08 is going for workshop or depot attention. The Midland Railway signalbox seen here was replaced by a BR pattern box soon after this picture was taken and the junction at Chinley North has since been considerably simplified.
