Baddesley Colliery
A little known Warwickshire bye-law says that every footpath on a disused railway, this one leading to Baddesley Colliery (North side) from the WCML, must have a bit of bent rail to mark the end of the path. The colliery used a Beyer Garratt, now preserved at Bressingham see image 36110, to get up the 1 in 47 gradients on this short branch, which closed in 1974. Apparently, much of the coal won here was burned in the brickworks at nearby Polesworth.
