Carlisle

The BR 'Fifteen Guinea Special' was billed as the final standard gauge main line passenger train to be hauled by a steam locomotive on British Rail. It ran on Sunday 11 August 1968, the day before the introduction of the main line steam ban. The photograph shows 70013 Oliver Cromwell (the last steam locomotive to be overhauled by BR) following its arrival at Carlisle with the special.
