Manchester Piccadilly

Platforms 1 and 2 at Manchester Piccadilly at lunchtime on 19 July 2008 with Northern services to Sheffield in Platform 1 formed by DMU 150270 and to Hadfield/Glossop in platform 2 with EMU 323231. Note the drip trays between the bullhead rail on platform 2. This side of the station was once wired for the 1500v DC electric service to Sheffield Victoria which passed through Hadfield on the Woodhead route. Today Hadfield is as far as trains travel on that route with the line now electrified at 25 KV. The Sheffield train is now diesel powered and takes the Hope Valley route.
