Woodacre Crossing

Plenty of steam from 6233 Duchess of Sutherland as she heads north on a sunny but cool morning at Woodacre, near Scorton, on the Crewe to Carlisle leg of the Royal Scot steam excursion. This view taken from the footbridge that replaced the original level crossing when the line was upgraded for 125mph running. This was one of the last main line runs for the Duchess before its ticket expired but she was subsequently granted an extension and, repainted from maroon to black, continued on the main line during 2010 See image 29245.
