Preston (Ribble Branch)

Commercial freight on a preserved railway as seven loaded bitumen tankers (one rake of two batches) are taken down the Ribble branch from the exchange sidings. On this occasion Barclay 0-6-0 shunter 615/1977, on loan from the Tanfield Railway, is the motive power for the thrice weekly freight. After 44 years of service the bitumen tankers seen here were finally replaced by new vehicles in late 2010 See image 32771.
