Newcastle Central

View from the window of a railtour approaching Newcastle Central in May 1967 as the light begins to fade. One of the North Tyneside third-rail DC electric services stands in the bay, destination 'Coast', shortly before the line was de-electrified and DMUs took over these operations. The North Tyneside line was, of course, subsequently re-electrified in the early 1980s and is now part of the Tyne & Wear Metro system.
