Penistone

E26053 Perseus with the RCTS Great Central Railtour at Penistone on 13 August 1966, with the Woodhead/Manchester route to the left and the Huddersfield route straight ahead. The locomotive is in the process of running round its train which had arrived via the Worsborough incline and was preparing to head for Sheffield Victoria. A class B1 locomotive was scheduled to take charge for the journey from Sheffield to Nottingham Victoria on its way back to London. The eleven coach railtour was run to commemorate the loss of through passenger workings over much of the GC London extension where service cutbacks were due to be implemented the following month.
