St Margarets Shed

A3 Pacific no 60052 Prince Palatine, stands behind St Margarets shed, minus nameplates and various mechanical components on 21 May 1966, some 4 months after its official withdrawal by BR. The locomotive, which had first emerged from Doncaster Works in November 1924 was eventually taken to Coatbridge and the scrapyard of Messrs McLellan at Langloan, where it was cut up the following June. 60052 was the last of the A3s to be withdrawn, with only one example, no 60103 (LNER 4472) Flying Scotsman surviving into preservation.
