In front of one of many new buildings just to the east of Reading station is a South West Trains service which has terminated here following a journey from Waterloo via Ascot on 18 June 2009. The Class 444 units have an external resemblance to the Class 380 mock-up currently on display in Glasgow Central Station. Nearer the camera is a First Great Western HST on an eastbound service which will run non stop to London Paddington.
