Kilmore East

Melbourne-bound train headed by N Class N 468 runs into Kilmore East Station, Victoria on 28th May 2009. This is on the broad gauge (5' 3') and to the right can be seen the standard gauge line from Sydney to Melbourne which runs parallel here. The stationmaster / signalman operated the colour light signals with a full-size lever frame. He said that this line was one of the last places in the world to use  the double - block system of working. Until the bushfires in February which caused damage to the area and the closure of the line, the levers had controlled lower-quadrant semaphores.
